Director

Elizabeth Morales

Elizabeth Morales is the Director and Founder of My Learning Coach Tutoring Services. She graduated with a Masters Degree in Reading and Special Education from the University of Miami and a Bachelors Degree in Music Education and Special Education from Florida International University.
The best decision Elizabeth has ever made in her life was to become a teacher. She's always been the type of person who enjoys creativity and learning. Throughout college, she researched different ways all students can learn. Elizabeth has been a firm believer that every child can learn. Dr. Howard Gardner has been an inspiration to all of her academic lessons.  Dr. Gardner, developed the theory of Multiple Intelligence's in 1983, when he was a Professor of Education at Harvard University. He believes that the traditional way of identifying intelligence through an IQ test, is very restricted and limited. Instead, Dr. Gardner proposes different ways to identify intelligence to account for every learners potential.
As an educator, she believes every child can learn. For the past 20 years, Elizabeth has worked with students as a tutor, mentor, assistant band director, trombone instructor, classroom teacher, Reading Specialist, English Instructor, and College Professor. Elizabeth has worked with students with learning disabilities and in the general education curriculum. As an educator, she's realized how hard it can be for parents at times to assist their child because of the time they have left in a day. Sometimes they have an abundance of homework and it can be difficult to assist them when you're a parent. Working one on one with a coach will make things easier for the parent and child because they can assist you with skills they need and homework that has to be completed.
As a Reading Specialist and Teacher, her mission is to transform your child into a successful learner. Elizabeth's goal is to transform her students to become students who love learning. MLC coaches and Elizabeth will train your child to achieve their goals as learners. At My Learning Coach, we don't tutor; WE TEACH.

Expectations

My Learning Coach teaches students to learn various strategies to support learning and enhancing academic performance. Tutoring is provided in the comfort of your own home and in an educational environment. Our coaches get to know our students and their learning styles to better assist each student individually. Our main goal is to inspire students to become confident and independent learners prepared to learn the material and excel in different academic areas. We expect our students to practice at home on a weekly basis to enhance their knowledge in the academic area they are receiving coaching.

Multiple Intelligences (MI)

Developed by Dr. Howard Gardner

According to Dr. Howard Gardner, knowing your learner is very important for educators because everyone learns in different ways. A persons potential lies in the fact that people have a unique blend of capabilities and skills (intelligences). Targeting various interests and learning styles of students can help educators to plan engaging and effective lessons. The Director of My Learning Coach is a strong believer that everyone should be given the opportunity of an education where ALL students learn and demonstrate academic progress. That's why at My Learning Coach, we get to know our students and their ways of learning to provide tailored lessons that help them achieve their goals.
